ProTek Debuts Automatic Mechanical Watches and Bracelets for 2024

Boise, Idaho – January 2024 – ProTek announced today that the brand is debuting their new line of Automatic Mechanical Watches and Bracelet models. ProTek will also show an exclusive watch made for the Oakland, California Police Department with their logo and branding, that was designed and created specifically for The OPD. Protek has watches in design development for a dozen law enforcement groups and seeks other groups for whom it can make watches that have the organizations’ branding on them.

“I’ve worked with Barry before when he owned Luminox, so I knew he’d deliver excellence with his new brand, and think ProTek is superior to his former brand, with excellent build quality and higher-level components,” said Officer Trevor D of the Oakland Police Department. “Everyone that got our new OPD watch absolutely loves them. We will be ordering more for those that missed out on the first order.”

From the Founder and Former Owner of Luminox, the ProTek brand is designed for a core group of First Responders that includes Law Enforcement, SWAT, Tactical, Military, Special Forces, Fire Fighters, and more. The latest ProTek collection has been designed as an official Watch of the Oakland Police Force. The no-excuses brand is “Rugged at Heart”; and built to handle what life demands in any environment, lending credence to the tag line… “All Terrain Watches.” All watches are manufactured in a spotless assembly facility that has safeguards in place to ensure excellence in manufacturing quality timepieces, with an air filtration system that cleans the air inside, equivalent to an ISO7 clean-room standard.

Most watches created for First Responders are based on the United States Marines collection that has a Carbon Composite Case with tight unidirectional ratcheting bezel, embossed stainless steel screw case back bearing the USMC logo, antireflective sapphire crystal, screw crown, and genuine rubber strap. The dials and case backs are altered so have the branding and logo of each organization. The watches are rated to 300 meters water resistance with all watches tested in both air and water to ensure this and are powered by a dependable Citizen/Miyota quartz movement with a 10-year battery. All ProTek watches feature self-powered ProGlo illumination system that is 100X brighter than conventional lume, and glows continuously for 25 years with no need for a “charge” from an external light source.

“This is the same unsurpassed self-powered enabling illumination system I pioneered and brought to the consumer world with my former brand,” said Barry Cohen, Managing Partner of Time Concepts, parent company of the ProTek brand. “We worked hard to keep the prices down, (MSRP $495), even while raising the quality with better components to arrive at a superior watch. The certified watchmakers at top watch blog A Blog To Watch stated that ProTek has the best value in tritium lume watches on the market and that the build quality is outstanding, and they know watches. We must be doing something right!”

“We’ve had a great response to our Official USMC Collection and are eager to introduce this new collection created for such a core group of elite protectors. These watches are terrific daily-wear knock-around timepieces, and ideal for anyone that leads an adventurous active lifestyle. Our brand name defines us - ‘Pro’ defines our target audience of First Responders, and ‘Tek’ refers to our superior self-powered illumination technology.”

About Time Concepts, LLC

The ProTek brand is part of the portfolio of brands under the Time Concepts umbrella. Time Concepts, LLC was started in 2007 by Barry Cohen during his tenure at Luminox Watch, a Swiss-made watch company he founded and owned for 27 years. Luminox gained fame for making watches that were supplied to Navy SEALs after a research and development officer approached him and asked to have a watch made for them that used the proprietary self-powered illumination that was a hallmark of the brand. Time Concepts was launched as a platform to develop private label watches. As the business evolved, it added its own Szanto vintage brand and the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association brand of dive watches. The newest addition to the Time Concepts stable of brands is ProTek (Official Watch brand of the United States Marines) that brings Cohen back to his roots with tritium illumination tactical style timepieces. Time Concepts develops watches in Switzerland and Asia and uses only top-quality manufacturers. Most of the company’s watches are manufactured in a dust-free, temperature- and humidity-controlled clean-room environment to ensure years of dependable service.
